This December, the Joseph Rowntree Theatre is bursting with festive cheer, offering a lineup of performances and events to delight audiences of all ages.
We've got two magical pantomimes: Mother Goose and Robin Hood, an electrifying Elvis tribute act, and two fundraising events that will make the Christmas spirit soar: the festive concert Christmas Showtime with Don Pears and a special screening of the beloved classic The Muppet Christmas Carol.
With something for everyone, it’s the perfect place to celebrate the season.
Mother Goose

Another Rollicking Romp of a Panto From Rowntree Players. It’s market day and Mother Goose needs to make rent before the ever nasty Demon Darkheart evicts the Goose family. Meantime Jack’s exciting new addition to the farm - Priscilla the Goose - has stopped production in Jill’s hen house. Comedy, song and dance in this very silly rollicking romp of a family pantomime.
The matinee performance on Sat 7 December will have a BSL interpreter and live captioning.

Re-experience this 1992 classic re-telling of the Dickensian tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, with Michael Caine in leading role, supported by famous faces like Miss Piggy, the Great Gonzo, Rizzo the Rat and of course Kermit the Frog.

Christmas Showtime with Don Pears

Now a Christmas tradition, legendary York Musician Don Pears performs an evening full of cheer in his seasonal fundraising Concert. A great supporter of the theatre, Don will be joined by York Choir 'Singphonia' and a host of soloists performing a mix of classic show songs and much loved Christmas favourites.

Start off the new year right with the Deadpan Players for a frolic through the forest as they make their debut at Joseph Rowntree Theatre. Nottingham cowers under the grip of the evil Sheriff of Nottingham and only Robin and the Merry Men can save the city and prevent him from marrying the beautiful Maid Marian. Join our brave heroes and their friends, as they take up their bows, saddle their horses and set forth to make Nottingham great again. Comedy, slapstick, music and dance all combine to make this a fun-filled frolic for all the family.
