Maurice needs your help!

The Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company are seeking entries for a competition for children to design inventions to be used as props in their February 2025 production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical. 

The competition is open to children or children's groups and classes under the age of 16. Successful entrants will get the chance for their inventions to be used on stage in the Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company’s production and the inventors of the top three inventions will receive two free tickets to see the show.

HOW TO ENTER

• Once you've made your invention, take a photo or video of it in use
• Write a description about your invention; what it is and what it does
• Ask an adult to send it to company@josephrowntreetheatre.co.uk

PRIZE

• The top three inventors will each recieve two free tickets to see Beauty and the Beast

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES

• The competition closes on Saturday 11th January 2025.

There are a few things you'll need to remember:

• You must be 16 or under enter
• You can enter as an individual / family or as a group / class
• The winning invention will be used on stage so needs to be able to be moved by one person. 
• If you are one of the lucky winners, you must be able to arrange for your invention to be dropped off at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre in January 2025.

The Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company is the in-house theatre group of the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York’s volunteer-run art deco theatre, performing musicals and concerts to fundraise for the theatre, with past productions including Curtains, Kiss Me Kate and Hello Dolly! 

The company will be performing Disney's Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical from 4th to 8th February 2025 at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre. Tickets available via the box office and theatre website.
